The men's Aku Rocket DFS GTX hiking shoes are ideal for hikers seeking versatility, from technical mountain terrain to easy-going forest trails, for 3-season use. They are lightweight and tough, with a very grippy sole.
This low-cut version is perfect for day hikes or multi-day walks with a light load.
The right balance of toughness and low weight
The synthetic fibre construction of these Rocket DFS GTX shoes makes for very lightweight hiking footwear.
The low-cut upper keeps the shoe light and provides excellent freedom of movement for a comfortable rolling stride.
These shoes feature a waterproof, breathable Gore-tex membrane to cope with bad weather.
A protective rand provides effective impact protection on more technical terrain.
A responsive, flexible and grippy sole
Designed for walking on varied terrain, from forest trails to mid-mountain paths, the Rocket DFS GTX shoe features a grippy Vibram sole thanks to the layout, depth and firmness of its lugs.
This Vibram sole also provides better traction through its grip and a profile that puts energy into your stride as you walk.
The Rocket DFS GTX sole offers good flexibility, encouraging a smoother rolling stride while retaining effective cushioning.
Lacing that adapts to the terrain and your foot
These hiking shoes feature dual lacing, with each lace playing its own role:
- The 1st lacing system ensures comfort when walking on terrain that allows a smooth rolling stride.
- A 2nd lacing system over the forefoot tightens the upper closely around your foot for effective support and precise movement on the most demanding sections. This 2nd lacing system adjusts very quickly using a pull-tight self-locking system.
Other features:
- Gore-tex membrane
- Outsole: Vibram Rocket Traction Lug
- Insole: partially recycled Ortholite hybrid insole
- Midsole: dual-density polyurethane + 2 mm polypropylene and EVA layer
Choosing the right size:
- Measure your foot as follows: standing with your heel against a wall, measure the length of your foot + one finger's width, to allow a little extra room for comfort. This accommodates swelling as you walk and ensures your toes do not hit the end of the shoe.

- Refer to the shoe size conversion chart and compare your measurement with the insole size.
