Also known as a sleeping liner, a sleeping bag liner adds comfort and protects your sleeping bag.
Sleeping bag liners offer hikers comfort and better hygiene. They also let you wash your sleeping bag less often.
- Silk sleeping bag liners are the lightest and most pleasant to use. Silk feels cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather. They are perfect for treks where pack weight must be optimised.
- Cotton sleeping bag liners are comfortable and more affordable than silk liners, but also heavier and need more frequent washing.
- As well as feeling comfortable against the skin, sleeping bag liners provide extra thermal protection by adding an intermediate layer. Some offer a real warmth boost, particularly Sea To Summit's well-known Thermolite Reactor liners, which are lighter than fleece liners.
- Finally, synthetic liners offer a good weight-to-price balance for wild camping.
