Explore our selection of sunglasses for hiking, sport and mountaineering, as well as our cycling glasses.

Designed to protect your eyes effectively, they adapt to the varied light conditions encountered in the mountains, on the road or in nature.

How to choose your sunglasses

The 3 essential characteristics

1. Eye protection

Beware of a common misconception: dark glasses do not guarantee good protection, just as light lenses do not mean poor protection.

Protection depends on the lenses' ability to filter:

  • Ultraviolet (UV) radiation
  • Infrared (IR) radiation

These invisible rays can be dangerous, particularly at altitude, where their intensity increases.

For mountain or snow activities, choose sunglasses specifically designed for mountains or skiing.

Other important points:

  • Optical quality
  • Wraparound shape: limits rays entering from the sides

2. Lens darkness

Lens darkness is defined by a protection rating, or category, corresponding to the level of light filtration.

Category 3:

  • Ideal for most uses
  • Effectively reduces brightness
  • Preserves good colour perception

Category 4:

  • Very high protection
  • Stronger tint, often brown or yellow
  • Suited to extreme conditions, including high mountains and glaciers

Prohibited for driving; use only with wraparound frames

3. Optical quality of the lenses

Lens quality directly affects visual comfort.

Distortion correction

  • Important for large, curved lenses
  • Prevents distortions caused by varying thickness

Photochromic lenses

  • Automatically adapt their tint to the light
  • Provide excellent visual comfort in changeable conditions

Polarised lenses

  • Reduce reflections from water, rock and roads
  • Improve contrast and perception of terrain

Please note: avoid on snow or when driving, as they can obscure ice or useful reflections. They also filter infrared less effectively, making them less suitable at high altitude.

Water-repellent treatments

  • Reduce water adhesion
  • Reduce fogging
  • Useful in damp or changeable conditions

Other factors to consider

Lens strength

Polycarbonate: lightweight and durable

Trivex: excellent optical quality and strength

Unbreakable lenses such as those from Glorify

Frame comfort

Secure fit on the face

Ergonomic temples, such as technologies from Cébé or Glorify

Adaptation to movement during activity

Size and fit

Choose glasses to suit your face shape:

  • Small
  • Medium
  • Large

The right size ensures a more secure fit and optimum protection against stray rays.
