RayonRando and cardboard boxes: reuse and recycling
Surprised to receive a RayonRando.com parcel printed with “Ferrino” or “Millet”? Here is how we aim to recycle and reuse as much as possible of the cardboard and paper needed for our business.
To deliver the sleeping bag or tent that will help make your holiday a success, we need cardboard boxes and sometimes protective packing materials.
These may be new boxes, but for many years now we have reused as much as possible of all the materials needed for our business: our suppliers' delivery boxes and protective packing materials, as well as delivery notes, picking slips and product catalogues.
There is much talk of recycling, but immediate reuse seems to us the best way to extend the life of these “consumables”.
In practice:
- When goods arrive, any box in good condition and of a suitable size for orders is put aside and reused as soon as possible to deliver your orders.
- All protective packing materials used by our suppliers are reused in your parcels to cushion products that need protection.
- All our paper is shredded to provide more protective packing material. Your Thermos bottle might well be protected by thin strips of a Therm a Rest delivery note…

Of course, boxes that cannot be reused because they are too large or damaged enter the usual recycling streams. Pallets are reused by our neighbours for their own shipments.
These small actions explain why your next RayonRando parcel may look different from the previous one. But it will always be carefully packed!
