Blackthorn 1 GEN2 lightweight hiking tent

The Highlander Blackthorn 1 is a compact, affordable double-wall hiking tent, lightweight for its class. It suits solo hikers.

This tent's low profile and the ability to guy it out effectively provide good wind resistance. In rain, the outer fabric withstands a hydrostatic head of 2000 mm.

With a packed length of no more than 32 cm, it slips easily into a small-capacity backpack or bike pannier.

Its porch is useful for storing footwear and a backpack.

The trade-off is its limited dimensions: there is not enough headroom to sit up inside. Contrary to the manufacturer's diagram, the inner is no more than 1.95 m long and will not suit anyone over 1.80m tall.

This is a lightweight summer tent, unsuitable for extreme conditions: its fibreglass poles in particular are less robust than aluminium poles.
