This portable UV water purifier for hiking offers a particularly useful alternative to water purification tablets such as Micropur.
It purifies 0.5 litres of water in 48 seconds!
It works on a simple principle:
The SteriPEN UV water purifier uses its UV lamp to purify water by destroying the DNA of bacteria, protozoa and viruses.
The sterilised water becomes safe to drink in seconds.
Stéripen is effective against:
- Infectious microbes such as viruses, bacteria, giardia and cryptosporidium
- Pathogens that cause diarrhoea, dysentery, hepatitis and Legionnaires' disease
- Common household microbes such as bird flu, flu, E. coli, salmonella, staphylococcus and streptococcus
Its benefits:
- No more waiting: purifies 0.5 L of water in 48 seconds, or 1 L in 90 seconds
- The water does not taste of chlorine, unlike with chemical treatments
- Lightweight (82 g without batteries) and compact, it fits easily into a pocket or backpack
- Easy to use: simply press the lamp's push button and immerse it in clear water to switch it on
Then stir until the indicator light turns green.
For commercial water bottles or narrow-necked water bottles, insert the Steripen into the neck, turn the bottle upside down and swirl the water until the indicator light turns green.
Read the instructions carefully before use.
If you are looking for a steriliser with a rechargeable battery, we recommend the Steripen Ultra steriliser, which provides more than 50 treatments of 1 litre of water per charge.

Supplied with a cap.
Runs on 4 AA lithium, alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries (not included).
