Talon 44 hiking backpack

The Osprey Talon 44 hiking backpack stands out for its low weight for a 44-litre pack and comfortable carrying. Its contact back is height-adjustable and ventilated, while the hip belt wraps closely around the lumbar region to balance the load. Well equipped with plenty of features, it is an ideal companion for day or multi-day hikes.

Carrying: comfort and good load distribution

The Talon 44 backpack has an Airscape back panel in ridged or accordion-style foam covered with mesh. This construction keeps the load close to your back while providing good ventilation through the channelled foam and mesh. 

The hip belt also uses channelled foam covered in breathable fabric. The flexible foam wraps closely around the lumbar region for improved comfort. It adjusts easily by pulling the straps forwards.

The back panel and foam hip belt follow hip movements closely, distributing the load effectively as you walk.

• Padded shoulder straps covered in mesh for greater breathability. The back is height-adjustable using Velcro: simply peel back the panel and adjust the shoulder strap height for optimum comfort.

• Height-adjustable chest strap and load-lifter straps at the top of the backpack.

The Osprey Talon 44 has a single main compartment, accessible from the top with a drawcord or from the bottom through a zipped opening. 

The hydration bladder compartment is completely separate from the main storage compartment, positioned between the back and main interior.

The lid is removable and height-adjustable to suit the main compartment's load. It has two zipped pockets: one on top and an internal mesh pocket with a key clip.

A front mesh pocket with a clip closure can hold a waterproof jacket or extra layer, for example.

Two stretch mesh side pockets hold water bottles. Compression straps across these pockets let you secure accessories or compress the sides of the pack.

Two zipped pockets, one on each side of the hip belt, hold a smartphone, camera or other small items.

A small shoulder strap pocket can hold a cereal bar or gel.

The Talon 44 backpack also features:

• Chest strap with a safety whistle.
• A strap on top of the pack for attaching extra equipment.
• Two removable straps at the base for attaching a sleeping mat or tent.
• Two elasticated ice axe holders.
• A trekking pole holder.
• Various attachment loops around the pack.
