Lightweight hiking tents

Lightweight hiking tents are for people who carry their tent on a backpack or bike and need to keep weight and bulk to a minimum.

- For 1 person, you will find a selection of 1-person tents, but remember that a 2-person tent can also be suitable and give you more comfort;

- For 2 people, 2-person tents offer the best balance of weight and packed size. However, a slightly heavier 3-person tent will provide more comfort and interior space. These can be a good choice for cycle touring.

- For 3 people, 3-person tents are suitable, but interior space can be limited. For 4 or more people, taking 2 bivouac tents can be worthwhile: they will be easier to carry, more comfortable and easier to pitch.

MSR and Némo tents stand out for their light weight. Vaude and Robens tents are robust and offer good resistance to the elements, including wind and rain.

Dome or igloo tents offer more interior space than tunnel tents, but require a slightly larger pitch. Storage porches for footwear and bags are also important.

Even when ventilated, single-wall tents generate more condensation than tents with an inner tent.
